19 Contemporary Artists engage in the struggle against torture

"Artists against Torture" is a portfolio of modern art. The idea was launched and supported by Madam Martita Jöhr-Rohr, Honorary member of the Board of the Association for the Prevention of Torture (APT). The aim is to contribute to the financing of this international association in its struggle for greater respect for human rights. In 1993, 19 internationally-renowned contemporary artists offered an original work, specifically created to contribute towards the struggle against the horrible practice of torture. The only restriction imposed upon the artists is that their work of art should be 76 cm by 56 cm. Each of the 19 works of art in the portfolio, which is limited to 150 copies, is signed personally by the artist. Vaclav Havel, author, President of the Czech Republic, has signed the preface to this very important portfolio. . "Artists against Torture" is sold at a cost of 25,000 Swiss Francs, to the benefit of APT. The current value is estimated by experts to be more than 32,000 Swiss Francs. So far some 110 portfolios have been sold. . The APT acts by : Participating in the elaboration and approbation of appropriate legislation. Developing means and mechanisms of control which will assure the application and the respect of legislation already in place (for example, visits to places of detention and police stations). Awareness-raising and training of individuals and organisations in the prevention of torture and respect of human integrity (for example: training of police, prison guards, jurists and human rights defence organisations). "Artistes contre la torture", est un portefeuille d'art contemporain. Il est né de l'idée et du soutien de Mme Martita Jöhr-Rohr, membre d'honneur du Conseil de l'Association pour la prévention de la torture (APT). Son but est de contribuer au financement de cette association internationale qui lutte pour le respect des droits de l'homme. En 1993, dix-neuf artistes contemporains de grande renommée internationale ont chacun offert une pièce originale créée spécialement pour contribuer à lutter contre ce terrible fléau qu'est la torture. Seule "contrainte" imposée aux artistes dans leur création, le format (environ 76cm x 56 cm). Chacune des 19 oeuvres du portefeuille, au tirage limité à 150 exemplaires seulement, est signée de la main de l'artiste. Vaclav Havel, écrivain, Président de la république de Tchéquie, signe la préface de ce portefeuille de grande valeur. "Artistes contre la torture" est en vente au prix de 25'000.- Francs, au profit de l'APT. Sa valeur actuelle est estimée par les experts à plus de 32'000.- Francs. Aujourd'hui, environ 110 portefeuilles ont déjà étés vendus. Grâce à ce soutien précieux, l'APT contribue activement à la prévention de l'une des pires violations des droits de l'homme qui, malgré son interdiction universelle, est encore largement pratiquée. "Artistas contra la tortura", representa una cartera de arte contemporaneo. Nació de la idea y del apoyo de Martita Jöhr-Rohr, miembro de honor del Consejo de la Asociación para la Prevención de la Tortura (APT). Su objetivo es contribuir al financiamiento de esta Asociación internacional que lucha para el respeto de los derechos humanos. En 1993, 19 artistas contemporaneos de grande renombre internacional ofrecieron una de sus obras originales creada especialmente para contribuir a luchar contra la plaga de la tortura. La única obligación para los artistas en su creación fue el formato de la obra (alrededor de 76cm x 56cm). Cada una de las 19 obras de la cartera, con edición limitada a 150 ejemplares solamente, es firmada de la mano del artista. Vaclav Havel, escritor, Presidente de la República Checa, firma el prefacio de esta cartera de gran valor. . "Artistas contra la tortura" se vende al precio de 25'000 francos suizos en beneficio de la APT. Su valor actual esta estimada por los expertos a más de 32'000 francos suizos. Hoy, ya se ha vendido alrededor de 110 carteras. . 19 zeitgenössische Künstler gegen die Folter

"Künstler gegen die Folter" ist eine Kunstmappe mit Werken zeitgenössischer Künstler. Das Projekt basiert auf einer Idee und der Unterstützung von Frau Marita Jöhr-Rohr, Ehrenmitglied des Beirats der Vereinigung für die Verhütung der Folter (APT). Der Verkauf dieser Kunstmappen soll zur finanzierung der Aktivitäten dieser internationalen Vereinigung beitragen, die sich für die Wahrung und Einhaltung der Menschenrechte einsetzt. Im Jahre 1993 haben 19 international bekannte Künstler ein Werk, das sie zum Thema des Kampfes gegen die Folter geschaffen haben, in diese Kunst Mappe eingebracht. Die einzige Einschränkung war das Format (ca. 76 cm x 56 cm). Jedes Einzelne dieser 19 Werke, gibt es nur in 150 Handsignierten Exemplaren. Vaclav Havel, Schriftsteller und ehemaliger Präsident der Tschechischen Republik, hat die Einführung zu der Kunstmape beigetragen. Die Kunstmappe "Künstler gegen die Folter", wird zum Preis von 25'000.- Franken zu Gunsten der APT verkauft. Der Wert der Mappe wird von Experten heute auf 32'000.- Franken geschätzt.
