22nd International Biennale of Graphic Design Brno 2006
Poster, corporate identity and advertising graphics
arteba June 13 – Oct 15, 2006
Brno
The International Biennale of Graphic Design in Brno, founded in 1963, is one of the longest running events of its kind in the world. The Biennale is held every other year in Brno, the second largest city in the Czech Republic - right in the heart of Europe. The main organizers are the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and the Moravian Gallery in Brno, in the buildings of which the Biennale takes place. The event covers two regular themes that are alternated with each other - one includes posters, corporate identity and advertising graphics, while the other deals with graphic design and type in books, magazines, newspapers and new media. Although many renowned artists participate, the Biennale is also open to young fledgling designers. The only priority is the quality of work. The volume of submissions is usually about 5,000 works by several hundred designers, from virtually every continent. From these, items for exhibition are chosen by the selection committee. All of the accepted designs are displayed and the International Jury then awards the Grand prix, prize for the best work in each category, as well as other prizes. The main exhibition is accompanied by a number of associated events - in particular the symposium dealing with major contemporary issues in graphic design. Each Biennale is supported by a colour catalogue in which all of the exhibiting artists have one page with their brief details and a reproduction of their best exhibit. Each Biennale presents the most interesting ideas produced during the previous four years. Projects, opinions and trends in graphic design meet here from all four corners of the globe, where new directions for its future development are formed. The event is endorsed by ICOGRADA (International Council of Graphic Design Associations).

4th International Triennial of Graphic Arts
Prague International Triennial of Graphic Arts Oct. 10 – Nov. 28, 2004
Mánes Exhibition Hall, Masarykovo nabr. 250, Prague, Czech Republic
The Prague International Triennial of Graphic Arts ranks among the most important events of its kind in the world. Its competition section will include 163 exhibited works by 66 artists from 15 countries. The theme of this year's Triennial is defined by a technique: linocut printing, "the most contemporary among the classical techniques" (R. Wohlmuth). For this reason, this year's Triennial can be seen as an exploration into what aspects of traditional graphic art are capable of competing with ever-expanding digital images of all kinds that dominate contemporary visuality.

Tallinn City Gallery
First Tallinn Print Triennial took place in 1968 under the name “Present Day and Graphic Form” where three Baltic countries - Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania took part. Initially it was meant to be a biennial but in practice the exhibitions appear as triennials. At that time Estonia was still under the annexation of the Soviet Union where monumental art, sculpture and painting were much favoured. This gave birth to an urge among Estonian printmakers, to create a forum for demonstrating their identity. Mental support from colleagues from Latvia and Lithuania was got easily.

TRACE Biennale Internationale de Gravure
TRACE Biennale Internationale de Gravure Jan 20 - Febr 4, 2006
Paris

SEOUL_SPACE INTERNATIONAL PRINT BIENNIAL Sept 7 - Oct 8, 2006
Seoul Museum of Art
Seoul_Space International Print Biennial, which has been loved much by many local and foreign printers for over two decades celebrates its 14th anniversary. Meanwhile, the biennial has found many fresh and promising print artists, while expanding the base for print works and promoting the genre of art .
iSince 2002, in order to encourage the print artists to be more imaginative with thein works, the biennial began to allow larger size print works than the conventional 'small size'of 10cm , while drastically raising the prize money. As a result, the biennial has been established as a reputable international print exhibition true to its name. We are determined to make this 14th biennial a more exciting arena for international exchange of art. We believe that Seoul_Space International Print Biennial will continue to play a valuable role in upholding the spirit of culture and art which Space Group has pursued continuously.

International Print Triennial in Krakow
International Print Triennial in Krakow June 3 - July 10, 2006
Krakow
Dear All, Arrangements for the next year 18th edition of the International Graphics Triennale in Krakow are under way in concert with preparations for the 40th Jubilee of its existence. It took us many weeks to set assumptions and draw up the framework of the programme, dates and titles of exhibitions suggested by our partners. There are many more than before. New proposals and ideas still keep coming. How will the Triennale look like next year? We wish that the Jubilee itself would not be only an opportunity for recollections of our memories; we wish IGT-2006 was a jump forward, entrance for changes which are taking place in the world of art nowadays. The Triennale in Krakow has always been run-in; it has always presented the current state of art in graphics. There are such people who very well remember the shock which the audience of the 1968 Biennale experienced. For the first time in Poland, extremely fashionable works of “op-art” style were presented back then by exhibiting wonderful works of Victor Wassarelly, a forunner of this trend. Then, next editions of the event followed presenting the whole range of directions and trends, which shortly or for longer „exploded” on the art arena of the II-nd half of XX century. Presently, we have our post-modernity and gigantic splash of graphics, photography, design, multimedia mixed with technologies of digital era.

International Experimental Engraving Biennial
International Experimental Engraving Biennial 15 March - 15 May 2008
Centrul Cultural "Palatele Brancovenesti"
The "Brancovan Palaces" Cultural Center Strada Valea Parcului, nr. 1
Mogosoaia, ILFOV 077135
Following the second edition, we promote and sustain the experiment in engraving, new solutions and techniques of printmaking, the dialogue with the three-dimensional or the idea of recreating the investigated object with the engraving support, serial print works, engraving installation. Combined techniques, unconventional printing materials like wood, plastic, silk, canvas, synthetic materials, etc, objects and ready made with print surfaces on it, collage, computer prints or different other print interpretations are encouraged.
We are looking for three-dimensional art prints. If you have your own techniques please send details. Also you can photograph or make movies with your working process and send us these materials (in digital form - CD or DVD for movies); evolution of an artwork – from the idea to fact - could be recorded. A copy of the recorded work-in-progress of your art works together with the original printed art work could be submitted to the curators of the Biennial and could become an integral part of the exhibition.
We invite artists to apply innovative, conceptual approaches to a graphic print. Artists are free to recreate the contemporary ideas in the unconventional engraving language. Only works with experimental tendencies will be accepted for the Biennial. There are no limitations regarding form, technique, and means of expression.
No fee is requested.
All print techniques are accepted (see Biennial Concept). New techniques are welcomed. The works can be bi-dimensional or three-dimensional. For bi-dimensional works the minimum size is 40x30 cm.(the print surfaces) and maximum size is unlimited.

GRAPHIC ART BIENNIAL, DRY POINT, YUGOSLAVIA   International exibition
 Biennials, Biennales, Serbia May 24 - July 27, 2007
Uzice
If a drawing is the first, real, sincere and essential artistic expression, the first record of idea or its complex and final definition, dry point is just that and all that. It is chivarly in graphic art, exact and real, it is strict ,not allowing hesitation, it is subtle and delicate, dreamy and airy. It can be used to tell various things, a tiny twinkling and a heavy chord... It is modest but so rich!

Biennial of Graphic Arts
art fairs Sep 6 – Oct 28, 2007
Ljubljana
The 27th Biennial of Graphic Arts takes as its point of departure and theme for reflection that turning point in the history of art when the ease of technical reproduction made reproducibility a new quality in the work of art and transformed the very concept of art in essential ways. At the same time, it makes reference to the theses of the renowned philosopher Walter Benjamin and their subsequent development in contemporary art theory. The reproducibility of art has changed the way we understand the notions of the copy and the original. It has influenced new meanings of authorship, the roles of the artist and the technician, the link between technology and art, and so on. Reproducibility has led to multiple production, wider accessibility, and an artwork's ability to be simultaneously present in different situations and socio-political environments. Artists have welcomed reproducibility as something that gives them new and diverse possibilities for expression and content. The exhibitions of reproducible art at the 27th Graphic Arts Biennial present a variety of art forms, from traditional printmaking to printed matter, video, photography, and computer- and Web-based art.
